Part of my innocence "died" when I realized what I was seeing in the games I play. Knowing that there are two sets of people in Korea, seperated by a mountain-range, fighting a proxy battle that was started more than 2000 years ago. Even in fantasy, the truth is there. They are unable to hide their simmering hatred for eachother, and I am still struck by it. It has been this difference that diffuses the power of the Koreans, the reason why their history has been at the whim of countries outside of their own.
But still there is hope for Korea. There are groups like SamBakZa who are doing their best to break down the walls between the two regions, trying their best to show that people are not only the same, but unique individuals, inspite of regional difference.
My hat is off to the artists of SamBakZa. I hope their message of love, unity and uniqueness manages to break down the divisions between the regions of Korea. Laughter and Joy will bring them together, and "There She Is" are the first few steps in Korea's movement to do this.
